Is there a particular skill that you would recommend to anyone doing your job to learn?

Benjamin Caillet – UX / UI Designer

Quick facts

Nationality French
Previous Job UX / UI Designer at Jujotte
Describe your role at Meister in exactly 10 words. I make good-looking things that people know how to use.
Describe your working day at Meister.

I should start with the end of my day because I always write a thorough to-do list before finishing work. When I begin working around 9 a.m. the next morning, I have a clear idea of what I need to achieve. This varies day-to-day, but generally I work on requests for design changes, ask my colleagues for their perspectives and feedback, and share any new ideas that come to mind. At Meister, we are encouraged to spend 10% of our working week exploring different avenues of personal progress. After lunch, I tend to spend some time reading articles on new technology or new trends that could be of interest to Meister.

How do you find inspiration as a designer?

I read a lot of articles! I see reading relevant material as planting seeds in my mind; over time, the seeds will grow and inspire me with new ideas. Ultimately, I’m curious about anything and everything (really, from TikTok to rocket engines and string theory). This curiosity helps when it comes to finding a fresh approach to a problem we’ve encountered at Meister.

If you could pick up a skill in an instant, what would it be?

Being organized! But I’m sure that working with the Meister Suite every day will quickly transform me into a highly organized individual (and I can’t wait).

What is the one piece of advice you’ve been given, or would like to provide other remote workers, that makes life easier?

Exercise! Working non-stop is tempting, but sitting all day makes you sluggish, which is bad both for your health and productivity. If possible, also change your working environment.

A powerful gaming PC.

I’ll gather missing information from tasks and set their priority, severity, and category. See you at the bug triage meetings!

Is there a food or activity you tried reluctantly, but it turned out you like it?

  • To go to the cinema and have coffee or lunch with my friends.
